I found this on the shelf where they sleep, this morning.

They have oyster shell available all the time and get good pellets, wheat and free ranging for bugs.

Is my chicken ok?

my girls laid some pretty funky eggs too and they are just fine-its sorta like a bump in their tract-within a few days they were right back to normal and lay normal everyday:-) shouldnt be a problem -it happens from time to time. If it happens continuously though..then I would worry..

Holy Smokes! Your chicken laid a bowling pin! Maybe she is bored and wants to try a new sport. Just kidding.

I hope your hen is okay and you find out what went wrong!

My cuckoo maran lays eggs that look like elongated pill capsules, egg-sized of course, at least once a month. It makes me laugh.

I guess I'll just watch them for the next few days and hope all things return to normal

-Ive never had to give my hens oyster shell though-the layer pellets from blue seal have it in the food-

I am curious... I've only had my hens a few months, but my mum has had chickens as long as I remember and in her 30 odd years I don't think she's ever had a deformed egg. She has also never fed pellets. I'm curious as to if it is something to do with the processed food perhaps?? Any opinions?
