5 years is not a record age for a hen, but it is definitely in the upper 95% age wise. This is why i will not breed older hens and roosters unless I badly need to breed them to keep a line with good genes going.

Yes it is possible for an older hen to grow spurs but said hen will likely grow spurs or show a likely hood of doing so before she is 5 years.

I came here cause my 5 year old girl just grew one spur. Big one too! Henopause is full of miracles. Glad it's nothing abnormal.
