1. Vitamins....Shouldn't need to at all if feeding a quality feed and they aren't ill.

2. Grit....Chicks don't need it unless you give them 'treats' other than their starter feed. Adult birds will need it if they are ranging at all or eating anything than strictly chicken feed.

3. Shells....I take it you mean Oyster shell? Hens will need Oyster shell once they begin to lay. Do not give it to them before they are laying, as the added calcium is just too much from them and can even be fatal.​

I thought that grit was for only if they were not outside pecking around. Not sure so any info will help.

If they have access to earth outside they won't need grit, they'll pick up what they need
