I've been looking for a Narragansett Tom for my hens, since I haven't had any luck I'm going to pair them with my Blue Slate Tom. What will I get?

I am going to put a Royal Palm with a Bourbon Red hen, will I get Red Bronze offspring?

The RP tom with the Bourbon red hen will give you Red Bronze toms and Golden Narragansett hens (both with recessive genes hidden in them).

The offspring of a blue slate tom and Narragansett hens are a little more complicated. Hens will express the Narragansett gene while toms won't. So the toms will be half blacks and half slates, but I'm not sure what the hens would look like. I don't know what the Narragansett gene will do to blacks or slates.

Are you sure?
From my understanding since a blue slate tom wouldn't have the narragansett gene, none of the female offspring could receive it.

If it is what you have , go for it, they will be interesting no matter the adult coloring. Bet they grow well!!! Maybe you can find a tome by the end of summer and have him ready for next spring!!

Thanks for all the replies, I hope I can find a tom. I keep checking everywhere I can think of, of course I want a healthy one too so that's also an issue.

I have one blue slate with one Narragansett right now, one Royal Palm with a Narragansett and a royal palm with a bourbon red. We shall see what comes of the crossing.

I am anxious to see what a golden Narragansett looks like. Am I going to be able to tell the sex of that pairing at hatch? the RP and BR pairing I mean

Does anyone know what the offspring would be called? I just had baby turkey poults hatch yesterday out of a Naragansett Tom breed to a hen that is a cross between a blue slate and a spanish black, and the second hen is a cross between a blue slate and a narragansett? The turkey poults are really cute. Thanks for any info you can provide.
