Hi I have lost 4 bob white quail and now 2 doves we have tried a black box with poison trapping.

I was think of taking a radio and playing that along with spraying some colones or perfume around the perimeter of the aviary and loft/coop I have also hear that human hair and or used cat litter sprinkled around the perimeter helps -please any suggestions

Rats will take doves n quail I know from experience sadly.. Muscovy ducks, cats conditioned to loft/coop to not bother doves etc, or small jack Russell/chihuahua/mini weenie dog, as ratters are all effective. I have a loft cat and make scovy who love eating or killing rats for fun (scovy ducks naturally see threat of snakes rodents dogs cats etc same as lama are to sheep, and they are practically unable to make noise n are called land ducks by some who know most don't need more water than to stick neck down in n be able to scoop water out).
Otherwise you can set yet pee out over night then spread around perimeter.. Keeps coyote bear n dogs etc away, but not sure about weasel n rodents.

Tin or ¼ inch hardware cloth security cage or Predator proof your enclosure with same. The predators are only doing what comes natural. Even it you kill off this crop another one is waiting in the wings at some point in the future.

thanks guys the out side already has 18 in of of 2 by 4 buried down and i live near a couple quarries and the ground is very rookie the underneath part of the loft is filled with extra rocks and has a ply wood barrier I don't know about ducks that seems like a good idea And I have thought about a loft or barn cat thanks very much

You need to get rid of the food that is attracting the rats. If there is nothing for them to eat they will go away.

Keep bird feed in closed rat proof feed bins.

Brush up any spilled feed straight away.

Only feed your birds from proper bird feeders so the feed will not be scattered around on the ground.

Until the rats have gone only feed you birds 2 times a day and remove the feeders after each feeding so the rats can't come and eat it.

Get a Jack Russell terrier they are small but fearless and they dont stop till there adversary is defeated and they love too show you their spoils of the fight! And very loving and caring to you and yours...

I got a jackrussle terrier it will end your vermin infestation or any kinda small terrier they go in the rat holes and wont come out till its over rats will eat every thing all your birds they are ruthless go to a rescue and get a Terrier great all around pet and I swear will rid you of your infestation cause if they can't get it outside then they come inside!
