Sad day Lost a hen ..first time losing a girl

..turned my back for a sec ..they free rage when I'm watching near our woods ..something grabbed her ..there were 2 large puncture wounds in her back and she was dead ..we found her within minutes ..what would this be????? Omg sooo sad

Dog? Hawk/Eagle? The raptors will only feed in the daytime, they are like chickens, sleep at night.

Maybe bobcat? it looks like it drug her into th woods ...do hawks drag prey a fairly long distance?

Depends on how big the chicken is. Mostly, they kill and eat them there. I had one pick up a chick and fly off with it. Bobcat sounds like something, though. It would have drug the chicken off somewhere secluded to eat it. It probably got scared off when it noticed you. Scary thing is that it was probably watching you when you went to pick up the chicken body.

Yep. Need a rifle, shotgun, etc... it won't be back after that. I assume it is legal to shoot them if they are going after your livestock in Florida.
