I own 2polish 2 silkies( I need to get more soon) and a silkie rooster
what would be a good medium to large size egg laying hen to mix in with my silkie
I am currently interested in breeding my polish to my silkie and my silkies to my silkie and I want to breed frizzles to my silkies as well:)

Australorps are gentle girls. They're not fancy-looking, but they are really great medium-sized egg layers, bred for longevity of lay (not just initial production). Many people would also recommend Buff Orps. Having never owned any, I can't offer an opinion.

I don't think you can get frizzled and production at the same time, if that's what you're hoping for. Bantam Cochins, Polish, and seramas are the only breeds I know of where it's relatively easy to find a frizzled line, and, as you probably already know, none of those are great egg producers.

I'm not hoping for good production with the frizzles I'm just interested in mixing them lol :) as well as the polish and silkies they don't lay as good but I want them to mix and have cute babies (hashtag heartface lol)
though I was also hoping for a cute soft fluffy feather chicken that has egg production to mix with my silkie
what about cochins?
are they good layers?
I might just an australorp :) will she be bigger than the silkies ? I don't want them getting picked on

Cochins are in no way, shape, or form good layers unless they're about to go broody. Then they pile on eggs for nearly two weeks, and then they sit, and you get no more eggs for months.

Australorps are pretty big hens. They're also really gentle, and pretty good about being cooped up. In my experience, they do not pick on other birds.

thank you ! ill be looking into getting one:) if not maybe a buff orp

Not the best pictures. We can't free range so I made some tents and chunnels to get them more room to roam. They only have access to it when we are home. Their run is fully secure when we need to go out.
