what would be your flocks catch phrase

My flock's catchphrase:

"Muddy puddle! Muddy puddle!"

Their theme:

"I don't care how much clean water you provide, I want to drink from the muddy puddy after I stomp it with my poopy feet."

There are days I wish I'd just stuck with the orginal 10, but there are others when a lap full of chicks makes all the rest of the insanity worth it.

I've actually found myself wondering occasionally if I got too many too fast. Best case scenario with who I've got right now and accounting for those whose genders I know (or at least am pretty sure), I'm going to have 10 pullets and 3 cockerels in my flock. That leaves Pippin the silkie as a wild card that I have no clue on yet, and one cockerel that I already know I'm rehoming. Too many cockerels still. That's the bantams.

Then in the standard flock, I'll have 1 cockerel and 4 pullets. Not enough pullets, so I'll be getting more come spring.

I'm reminding myself that I can always rehome males. They aren't hard to rehome where I live, thankfully. At least not from what I hear from my friends.

Right! I dump the mucky water on the other side of the yard, fill up their waterer and they're lapping up the mucky stuff like they haven't had a drink in days.

I'm trying to take a "lessons learned" approach to it all. No, I'm probably not doing everything right. But I'm doing the things I'm doing to the best of my ability and with my chickens' best interests in mind. I know that will include flock modifications, and I'm prepared for that.

I know from your threads here you are doing the same things. We got this, lol.
