What would cause this

I found 2 eggs with blood from this chicken. This was the worst one. Why is there that clump? She’s about 4 years old.

It looks like a ruptured blood vessel, when the yolk is forming in the ovary a blood vessel may rupture and the process of "egg making" continues leaving you with something like the image above with more or less blood! I've listed some probable causes below.

- Incorrect levels of vitamins A and K in the hen's diet;
- Feeding stale, wet, or moldy feed;
- Continuous lighting in the coop;
- Frights, stress, and disturbances.
