A Golden Laced Wyandotte Roo with a Blue Andalusain Hen. Would this produce the Blue Laced Red Wyandette or is it the other way around?

You will get blue laced red birds with bad lacing, they will be far from wyandottes though. With that cross it will take about 4 generations to get rid of the slate blue legs. You also have to worry about the large combes and wattles, white earlobes, white eggs, and also type. You cant have a breed without type, this cross will get you birds that look like more like andalusians than wyandottes. It will take about 6 generations or more to get birds that look like wyandottes. It would be easyer and cheaper to buy some BLRWs from a breeder. Just think of all the feed that you will be putting into all of those generations when you can just buy birds that are already good in color.

what do they use to breed that type of bird? I have found someone close to me that does have the blrw, but I just thought I would try it myself. On MM website it says glw with a slw, on one site it says that they crossed glw with ba, but not sure.

I honestly dony know how they origianally made BLRW, they may have crossed to cornish or something for the bantams. We made dun laced from solid duns and silver laced wyandottes. You could make blue laced gold by crossing blue wyandotte hens with a GL roo. If you did it this way, then you wouldnt really have to worry about breeding anything out like the leg color and such. First you would cross the blue hens with the GL roo and get laced males and mostly solid females. You keep all of those females and breed them back to a GL roo. Out of those chicks, a little over 50% should have good lacing, the others will be mostly solid with some gold, they should be culled. With those chicks you can breed them together or breed them to more GL to get a good pattern. I would suggest buying a BLRW roo and some GL hens to get started, thats what alot of people do, the only thing is, is that the gold will dilute it so you will jut have to keep crossing back to BLRs to improve color. The thing that MM says about how the color came to be is a big lie basically. When you cross GL and SL you get sexlinks or black laced buff. The only way it could be true is if they meant that SL was silver laced red(white laced red) with GL.
