What would kill chickens but not eat them?

Something got 5 of my hens that free range around the barn. We found two, both with neck wounds, but they weren't eaten. Can't find the other three so they were either eaten or same fate. It happened during the day today. We live in Georgia. Fox? Seems like a dog or coyote would eat them, not leave them. Possibly more than one of whatever it was?

Probably a neighbor's dog. A fox will kill and eat them, and if it kills more than it can eat at once, it will take them and stash them for later. A coyote would eat them too. A neighbr's dog, however, is just killing for fun, and wouldn't eat them. When my neighbor's dog was killing my chickens, it never ate a single one.

Could possibly have been a fox if you got back before it could take the other two to stash away.

That makes sense.

x2 on the dog idea.

Dogs like to "play" with chickens. Once the chicken is dead, the game is over unless there is another chicken to "play" with.
