What would make a feather grow in as transparent instead of solid?

Notice the change from colored to uncolored. That should not occur with maturity. If anything, the feathers should be getting MORE colorful with age.

Neither one of those meds is known for having side effects related to hair/feather growth. I would *guess* -- just guess -- that the loss of color may be related to stress/metabolic change from the illness you were treating him for. And yes, most likely you'll have to wait for another molt for him to regain his normal coloration.

Thanks for the replys. He does look very shiny, just not right in my eyes. I guess there is not much I can do about it now except wait for him to finish growing all the feathers in and hope he looks consistent. I will continue his vitamin regimen. Here is a wing shot of him.
