Apparently people don't read the whole thread anymore.
Thanks for your advice, but the ducks came back, only one missing.
And I'm using trail cams to find out WHAT is killing my birds so that I can eliminate it. My birds free range and I wouldn't have them if I couldn't let them free range. They are all safely in the coop until I eliminate the predator and I'm setting up a new fencing situation so my livestock guardian dog can be directly with the birds rather than on the other side of the fence where he can't do anything but bark while the birds get killed.
Years ago the presence of the dog was enough to keep the fox away, but now they've gotten smart and they know that if they don't go in the goat pasture the dog can't get them. I'm giving the dog more territory to patrol, and I've got a gun. Just need to figure out what and when this thing comes around so we can get him!
