What would take my duck?

11am was the last time I saw her. There was no sign of struggle, no feathers, no blood. My other duck doesn’t seem bothered or scared at all! What would take my duck without leaving anything behind? A opossum, raccoon, cat? What can I do to prevent this? I want my duck to be able and free range during the day... If she starts showing signs of depression I may get her another friend or find her a new home, but for now what can I do? I check on my ducks every two hours at least, if not every 45mins. I’m in the city. I walked up and down the neighborhood looking in bushes or trees for a body. I asked all surrounding neighbors if by any chance she flew into their yard- nothing! She’s a Cayuga, fairly small, could she have flown? She seems to have only been able to sustain flight in a downward slope if she ever did try to fly- never could get a boost more than 4ft and she was surrounded by a 6ft+ privacy fence! I’m so sad. :(

A raccoon got one of my ducks last night and didn't leave a trace except little raccoon feet prints. The other duck seemed unfazed but I'm pretty upset. :(

She absolutely could have flown. My Cayuga flies daily, but is in a secure pen so losing her is not an issue. I'm certain my Cayuga could fly over fences. Not sure how far she would fly distance-wise but, yes, flying out of your yard is a very distinct possibility.

I FOUND MY DUCK!!! I’m so happy. I have no idea where she was hiding but I came home and went in their duck yard and she was there!!! Crazy baby. She made me cry! I feel like I’dreaming, I was just accepting her being gone.
Hooray!!:wee:celebrate

I bet you were sooo relieved!

I still have no clue where on Earth she was hiding! I have been watching her like a hawk, trying to find the spot she sat in so contently and quietly... I have a feeling she may be getting broody and might have been scoping out a nest? No idea. When I went back into their yard to let my other duck have a bath before bed, my Houdini duck came walking out behind this small palm- but I know she wasn’t there before because I checked and found a little “bed”. We literally check under stones in her yard trying to find her!

Yep I'd say so. She's about the right age isn't she??
