My chickens rarely poop on the coop floor. Most pooping is done while asleep at night so the poop board catches it.

My chickens don't know your chickens! Yeah they poop at night but I see them pooping all day long as well.

Regarding the coop - yep pretty nice job and I concur with lowering the nest boxes, Mine are at 18" off the floor so the girls don't lose any floor space but they are still easy to get into. You could run a roost above it with a poop board below that if you like. If no poop board you would need to put a sloped roof over the nest boxes to shed the nightly "offerings". My 23 girls have about 36' of roosts at 4' high, they still get pissy with each other. Converted 10'x12' horse stall. The barn alley is their indoor run.

I don't know what I was thinking. The latitude and where we are on the time zone effects it, not just time of year. So when does your sun set?

LOL Yes! They poop all day, but they are outside all day doing said pooping. They go inside long enough to lay eggs then run back outside. Then at night they roost...and poop. My poop boards catch it all, or at least a good 99%. Come morning off they run outside. My run is a bed of wonderful fertilizer.

Ah, yes. That is how it works here too except my girls don't like snow so they spend a fair bit of the winter in the barn.
