Seems to be bleeding enough that I should do something about it

Corn starch applied should stop the bleeding.

Same thing, different location on one of my girls yesterday ... I have Stop Bleed (clipping dog's nails) which I used, then a dab of Blu Kote . Corn Starch works too. Been checking around the CH to figure where she may have hurt herself, no wire edges inside (made sure the ends were outside) but think she may have tried to get something thru the wire.
