I have a Mama chicken who hatched 4 chicks. They are about 4 days old. Last night she only had 1 chick under her. One was about 2 feet away from her cheeping away, another was 2 feet in the other direction almost dead from the cold (they are outside) and I cannot find the fourth chick. I put the almost dead chick in the brooder, and the one that was still cheeping under mom, and moved them to the coop.

My question is this....Would you take the chicks away from her?

Thanks for your help.

That is what I was thinking too. BTW, the little one in the brooder is doing great! I must have found her just in the nick of time!

Thank you both!

some hens just don't care!

Thanks for asking.

Yes, I got them late this morning. They have adapted well to brooder life.

Mom, called for a little bit, but by this evening she was done. She and another hen shared a hatching this summer and I thought she was a good momma, but it looks like the Cornish Game is the good momma....
