What would YOU do?

I'd keep the leghorns and add another coop for the Polish as they are frequently picked on and feather plucked in mixed flocks.
I actually have a Polish cockerel that my original flock AND the new chicks feather pluck something awful. I was hoping to get the polish pullets and establish them all in the second coop with maybe my EE and BO, the only two I HAVEN'T caught red-handed plucking feathers.

We are often faced with this type of issue, say Christmas presents you really don't want. How you deal with personal decisions that can affect relationships is up to you. I know, this time you accepted the chickens even if you ,made no commitments. That's different from an unwanted gift.

It's your decision. You can sell them and get your Polish and tell the truth if you are ever asked. You can lie and say a predator got them but you got the predator so now you can free range again. You can get your Polish and try to integrate or build a new coop. You can tell them it did not work out because they were feather-plucking your other chickens.

It is your decision and you have to live with it, but most of the time I find the indecision is much worse and harder on you than making a decision and living with it. It is usually not nearly as bad as you expect.

About a month ago, I bought a new coop that came with six chicks from some very nice people that were concerned about predators in their area. These chicks were their beloved pets, and it was obviously heartbreaking to let them go.
They are fine chicks, but the problem is, I want to get a few of a different variety. . . And I want to sell 4 of the leghorns.
I know, legally, ethically, etc, that these are now MY chicks, to do what I will, and there is no reason I can't sell them, but to sell them after only a month. . !
It seems flaky and dishonest. I can't even really put my finger on why. I bought the coop, and the chicks were already there. I didn't pick them out, and made no promises of a forever home, but to just not want them anymore seems like such a bad reason to sell them, especially because I will be getting more immediately.
I'll tell you a secret. I would really like Brahmas. I think they're lovely looking. They make my muts look like bag ladies. I even know where I could get some out here.
I also know the Tribes here wouldn't get on with them. It's probably not good terrain for them. I would have to build a massive coop.
It's good to want and not get.:old

I'm sure you didn't mean it this way, but this came across as incredibly condescending. I already have 1 polish. He fits the coops and terrain just fine, he just needs some buddies that won't yank his feathers out!
I will have to split the groups up to achieve that no matter what, it is just a question of feel guilty about swapping out some chicks for ones I would like better, or keeping them to keep my conscience clear.

No, it wasn't meant to be at all condescending. My apologies if it came over like that
