who wants to know?
I bought a rent to own washer & dryer. (I had to buy it this was since our income has dropped) Anyway, this washer & dryer is almost paid off, and since Feb. the washer has broke at least 10 times, if not more. The dryer has broke once, but like to rip up clothes. What should I do about this? Its under warranty, but good Lord! I can't keep up on laundry when the thing keeps breaking! I called the time before the last, and asked them to replace it or let me trade up, and they would not. Now its broke again, and I just want to scream! I know I'm over paying for this piece of junk, but Its almost paid off... I just really don't know what to do. Anybody have any suggestions?

We also purchase many things through rent own. Give it back and get another brand. We had issues with an easy chair, but they finally fixed it before we paid it off.

I love the rent to own stores here because they are VERY good about warranty issues. We just paid off living room furniture and are almost done with the washer and dryer (Whirlpool Cabrio units) and just got a 46" flat screen HD TV!!!

I tried that, and they said I'd have to start over on payments! I only have a few more payments left.

Thing is, is it worth it to pay it off and continue to have issues, or get a new one and start over?

I would buy a used washer for cash. You can find plenty in the local papers or craigslist if you spend a month or so looking. I can't count how many washers I've gotten rid because people moved or died and I just gave them away or charged $50 for a working machine.

When you get them through the rent-to-own places you wind up paying double of what they cost new!

I've looked, but I have to have a stacked unit because I get to live in a shoebox... (at least until I win the lottery!)

Tipsy, the good thing about rent to own for those of us who have crappy credit, is there a warranty. With our chair, if it had to go back for a third repair, we would have demanded replacement - and the fee to replace that chair, the weekly price, would have been WAY worth it rather than deal with defective furniture. Since the OP's washer and dryer has been through SO many repairs, IMHO, it would be better to start over. People like us don't have cash to go spend on a used appliance with no warranty.

Check craigslist or a nearby college campus (students will put them out for free or $50 rather than lug them back home between semesters).

Tell them to come get em.. You don't need the extra stress of having "paid for" crap that is going to keep breaking. Life is too short, Stress makes it shorter.
I'd tell them your getting your next ones from someone else..who sells better quality and worries about their customers coming back.
