What would you get?

Quote:
Barred Rocks- No because they dont have a tendency to go broody
SLW- I find them to fancy so I would say no
Speckled Sussex- I just dont find them attractive at all
Dominique- I would get them because they are an endangered heritage breed, that lays a fair amount of eggs, gets to a fairly good size, and can be broody

Since you added more birds:

Speckled Sussex-Absolutely. They are friendly, good layers of medium-sized eggs. I absolutely adore speckled sussex.

Silver-Laced Wyandotte- Heck No. The ones I got were evil, demonic birds. They'd kill their own chicks, would terrorize any new birds placed in their coops and eventually killed the rooster when they all attacked him at once. I'm sure mine is an isolated case because there are several lovers of the breed. (Katy!

Well you really should get them from a breeder, but if you are getting them from a hatchery.

Like rodriquez poultry said, don't get SLWs, I hate mine too.

Barred Rocks, Depending on the individual bird about broodiness, a few of mine have gone broody, and they are great layers and one of my Favorite breeds.

Speckled Sussex are great too, I love mine.

Don't have much experience with Dominiques yet, but I do know of a good breeder who sexes and ships his chicks and with great prices too.

PM me if you would like his contact info or if you would be interested in any of my Speckled Sussex or Barred Rock eggs.
