My family and I are considering buying a local feed store that is for sale.
My question is what would YOU like to see in the ideal feed store?
Some ideas for thought -
Feed? Types, brands, organic?
Live animals or poultry?
Vegetable or garden plants?
Tools?
Other?

Thanks for any input!

As far as feeds, it depends a lot on your clientele. If you carry too much product that they don't buy, the feed can go stale.

I'm in MO so seeds and plants desired will be different.

I like having organic as an option. I like several %s of protein in starter, grower, layer and finisher feed.
Supplements like fish or porcine meal is great to have.

Grains and seeds in larger quantity to make one's own scratch or for forage and fodder is great to have access to.
Wheat, oat groats, barley, field peas, buckwheat, flax, sorghum, millet, alfalfa, 7top turnips, radish, etc..

O/c it always depents where the store is and what animals are around, but I like the grains and seeds section in my feed store where you can mix your own. They have a "mix your own" section for dry dog and cat food, with dryed fish and lots of bull ears and stuff too and they expanded this section lately, so i think people like it....oh, and they have frozen innards for sale and the lokal dog owners love that. If many pets around maybe you can team up with a vet clinic for vaccine days or a with a groomer.
Having animals "in stock" is always problematic, I think, but when you can take preorders and do a chicks/bunnys week in spring or early summer? Maybe a lokal hatchery or breeders would like to present their animals on special occations.
Our shop here has no kitten or puppies, they work with an animal shelter. They have a board with photos and the cv of the animals at the shelter and do specials for the adopters like 10% off for all toys, great idea, I think.
