What would you spend on a chicken coup?

We are almost neighbors! Would have been even closer neighbors before I moved from Priest Lake, ID!

I like your idea of charging per square foot!

I have seen your add, lol. It looks really close to how mine is built and what I want to sell! Only difference is that I have a large window on one wall, got a whole bunch of windows from a friend who owns a glass shop in Spokane (I love friends with free stuff

)

Dont worry, I will be selling most of them in Lewiston, have to help my mom out down there for a month or two. So I wont be completion

Funny I had someone from Lewiston who was interested, but she kind of freaked out at me charging her for mileage.

I don't mind the competition, heck there are three or four others selling coops in the area right now. Heck maybe we ought to form a coop co-op.

I have probably spent $300 out of pocket on my coop in the past month, and it is nearing completion. If I hadn't had all of the excess material after building our house, I would probably have spent well over $1,500. Time into the project right now is about 80 hours.

Mine is extremely overbuilt, and you certainly could get away with a lesser built structure.

I was just reading your thread! You have a wonderful coup, I love the loft idea. I am glad that I do have a few materials laying around, like windows, 2x4's and 2x2's.

Oh, and your insulated nest boxes are great! I like the rolling egg idea, have you tested it yet with the chickens?

The chickens are 3 weeks old, so no test other than rolling an egg. Working on the idea of padding it, and I'll be experimenting with materials.

Are you sure they won't eat the styrofoam? I hae thought of using some insulation in mt nest box also, but was afraid they'd ingest it....
