New to Guinea's! Planning our coop now. Should have 15 keets mid-july. SO excited! They will be free-range during the day and closed up at night. We have lots of predators (I think it might even be bad during the day). So we will have to see if they can survive. I want to give them the best shot.

Part of me just wants to go easy route and buy one pre-made but I know eventually I would want one bigger and better. I just don't want to go through the drama on building a new structure.

I think every guinea owner dreams of the best coop! Me too! If I had my "druthers" I would have a coop that has two entrance/exits. One would be high up with a landing board that would allow the birds absolute freedom once they knew where "home" was every night. I sort of have this but it is too low. The landing board folds up, closing the opening if I need to shut access. The other would be a low, timed opening like they use for chicken houses. This allows for escape from bullies and entrance for those learning how to get in the house that have not caught on to the landing board idea. It also frees you from being tied to closing a coop door every night.
Beyond this, a coop that allows for guineas to roost up high and enough space would have to be considered. Of course, weather proof, adequate ventilation and varmit proof are required. So, wired under the dirt floor, or a trex flooring? Make sure YOU can get in and out for cleaning purposes, too!

Although not a coop design per say- something to consider! All the best with your babies.

Oh I hadnt thought of a landing board. I am going to research that a little. Interesting! Thanks for your input!
