Hi. If you are dealing with fowl pox, I wanted to share how I got my birds through it recently. I almost lost one because her eyes got scabby and swelled shut. Every morning I took warm compresses and wiped her eyes as clean as I could get them. Then I would put a small amount of Neosporin around the eye. Eye antibiotics recommended by eggcessive in the eye. The first couple of days I had to use a syringe to put electrolyte/vitamins in her mouth; small amounts slowly so she could swallow. I kept her locked up in her coop with a heat lamp. I tried isolating her, but it caused much stress and she could not find her food and water. I topped her feed with vitamin kibble, meal worms, and cat food. She couldn't see, but her rooster told her there was something good to eat I also put Sulfadethoxine powder in their water daily because they all had it, she was just one of the birds who are in the percentage which die from fowl pox, but with special care, after a week she could see well enough to leave the coop and forage with her friends. I am so happy to say that everyone made a full recovery I hope that you can get the rest of your birds through.

I'm also getting some stuff from the feed store . Guy said I scrape the skin then apply it . I did but a few birds down today that were not doing well .could this spread to my dogs ?

Fowl pox and chicken respiratory diseases won't spread to dogs. What stuff did you get from the feed store where you need to scrape the skin? Was that for leg mites or for what?

I'm not sure what's coming from the feed store . They ordered for my wife .

Fowl pox is spread from bird to bird, wild birds included, by mosquitoes. Even if the new birds that you brought on your property are housed separately, if they have the virus and mosquitoes feed on them and then your other birds they can catch it. I am going to start vaccinating all of my birds when they are young since this seems to be the only way to keep your chickens safe from fowl pox.
