Well got woke up this morning to a coyote in my yard at 5am. When outside thinking it was a dog. Got a closer look to find out it was a coyote and it charged me. Good thing my Elkhound was here. He stopped him and got himself attacked. I ran in the house and grabbed my .22 and by the time I got back outside it was too far away. He was trying to get to the barn to get my babies. Looks like I have to start locking them down again at night. At least till I get that sucker. He is a very brave one. He is the biggest one I have seen.

What a BAD way to start your day! Glad your elkhound is OK. He is, right? Best of luck in catching the nasty sucker! Guard those babies well!! Hey some of those babies are gonna be mine!

Those ones are safe from the coyote. They are hanging from the ceiling in a cage inside a stall. He can't get them. The Elkhound is ok. He yelped a little and has a scuff on his leg but I know the coyote will be back tonight/early morning. I have never known a coyote to be as fearless as this one is. He must really be hungry.

Anderson yes that's what I was just going to say, it might be from rabies for a coyote to act like that! Take extreme caution.

We have been in a 100 drought I think maybe Michelle too nice she is not that far from me it is flushing all the predators out. Every time I list chicks/chickens for sale I am sold out and the story is the same some predator got our chickens........

It is 91 Today and started at 9:00am, this morning with this heat. Our nice neighboors put corn fields all around us this year and now I fear it is gonna draw in a lot of predators that we never had problems with before. The corn field used to just be behind us. Now it is behind us and on both sides of us. We are completely surrounded by them now. A lot of place for the predators to hide. Now that my Pit mix is gone I fear I am gonna have problems. She kept them away. They don't seem to fear my Elkhound they challenge him. The coyote was so big I had a thought run through my head that is was a wolf. But I know they aren't around here.
