it's also just as scrumptious on a ham. I have tapped maple trees my whole life but my family prefers my syrup made from Hickory nuts and it's easier on me. I can collect my Hickory nuts during the summer and use them to make syrup whenever I need it. Plus I use the nuts 3 times. First I pick the nutmeat out of the shells for cooking/baking, then I use the shells and some of the meats for making the syrup then last, I use the spent shells in my smoker for hickory smoke. Nothing goes to waste here. lol
