Okay I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for a donation.

I am part of a Christian Homeschool Co-op, and we are trying to hatch eggs. The director of the co-op doesn't know anything about chickens or anything - I was asked to stand in and teach the kids for a few weeks about home agriculture basically. lol Anyways, I was wondering if anyone is interested in donating a shipment of hatching eggs. It really doesn't matter what they are. Like, AT ALL. These kids have no clue either way - they will just be excited to take home some chickens! If you want to donate send me a PM. We were shooting for starting incubation around early July but we will take what we can get. Thanks for reading!!

I would suggest looking locally for eggs on Craigslist, etc. Mixed breed chicken eggs often cost only a few dollars a dozen and you won't have to deal with all the challenges of shipped eggs when you just want the kids to have the experience of incubating and hatching.

If you have a poultry company near you most of the time they will bring or donate eggs that they have incubated and are near hatch for this type of project.. This way the likelihood of mistakes from inexperienced hatchers are minimized but the kids get to see the actual hatching. You might check. If not, I am sure that you could get some locally in order to have eggs that are more likely to hatch. I would be happy to donate some eggs but shipped eggs under the best of circumstances are not easy to hatch.

You don't say where you are and possibly there is someone here in Backyard Chickens that lives close to you who would donate eggs. I have duck eggs that I would donate but I can't afford the shipping right now.

Yes, I am very interested! Do you want me to measure them? I have 9 girls that are practically bald and I am afraid they will get sunburnt.

I no longer have the Bresse (sold flock last week). Here is what I have: Basque, Cream Legbars, Cuckoo Orps, BBS Orps, OLB Polish and Sulmtalers.

About sunburnt backs. Until you get some saddles get some sunscreen an thin with water and olive oil and spray on with a pump spray. It will help keep their skin from drying out too. Just shake before spraying to get the water and oil mixed .

Way back in February, several of you sent me duck eggs as part of various swaps. I've had great fun with the quackers that hatched from those eggs, so I thought you'd like to see this little video I made today of a few of them having fun in the kiddie pool. :)

Really good match with Jerry Lee Lewis's Splish Splash.
