Sweet! What are you up to now? They are like popcorn once they start popping you will have a box full before you know it.

Got 15 in the brooder, 2 still in the bator. I had to help them out around 4 am. One was the first to pip, it was still peeping, but not progressing beyond the initial pip. The other had totally zipped, but stopped. The top of the shell just popped off easily, then the little one came right out. The first one, I enlarged the hole and it struggled a bit then popped out. They are resting now, getting dried out. They seem a bit weaker than the rest, so we just have to wait and see. The others, I can't see any sign of pipping yet, but we are waiting.

They are so cute and tiny. I love the variety of colors...some totally yellow, some yellow with stripes, others brown with stripe.

This with the power being out from 2 am to 10 am (generator ran out of gas) on Monday. I warmed water on the gas stove, and put warm water bottles in the bator all night, as well as in the brooder with my "big" chicks.

So, now we are "quail farmers", lol.

You better get on over to the What Ya Got Swap. Those darling little chicks were made by AyeUpChuck, however you will have to provide your own cake or cupcakes. There have been all kinds of other goodies offered: Jam, breads, cookies, relish etc.
