I see what they charge for day old chicks for them. I would be very upset myself if I recieved them in such poor condition as you did. That is horrible.

I hope you said something to them about that.

I am hoping ice cream counts as food. I definitely do not feel like eating.

And to beat all, DD & I were in the back yard talking to neighbor. We three were walking around to the front between our houses & some dude was crossing the yard between going from her house back to mine!

I started yelling at him. He looked and sounded drugged up. He had knocked on our door and got our dogs to barking so much he had woke up DH (third shifter) who came out on the porch and dude was walking back over to talk to him. I stopped that right quick. I asked him what the heck he was doing in my yard. I was NOT nice at all. It was dark - and he wanted a ride. IDK who the heck he was.......I was like

NO (said with an attitude - the rest of my sentence would have been ARE YOU STUPID?) and do not just walk up in people's yards... I have dogs.

He hauled butt off of my property.

Now I am going to eat my ice cream, take my meds, and go back to sleep.

ETA: he claimed to live up the road....As far as I know that place is empty. and I have never seen him before. If he did live up the road, he would have known we have dogs. and guns.

Uhh, it sounds like you may want to have the dogs on alert and the guns loaded for awhile, like he was scoping out the area....

Pretty sure he did not realize us three were walking up beside the house. I hope he took my 'we have dogs' statement as a threat, honestly. I did not mention guns to him, didn't want to give him a reason to try to break in on me. Someone is here almost 24 hours a day - rarely is the house ever empty. Sometimes one day a week for a few hours. But I am here with no vehicle in the drive most of the time.

Besides - the dog (a lab) I am sure would bite was in the back yard, or I would have let her chase him down.

The pit in the house has been taught to protect me preferably on command, but sometimes just cause she wants to

The way the birds look is only part of it. I am still pretty upset over today's events. I don't like to go off half cocked when I am angry so I will see how I feel tomorrow.

The two will spend the next four weeks in there own little quarters so I am hoping I can get some feathers on those poor little naked bodies. The male has no feathers other than on his head and wings. He looks like he was plucked. They do seem healthy and are eating and drinking. When I have had birds this naked, it has generally been because one of the other birds have been feather picking. I will have to watch these two to make sure they don't have that habit.

I got some birds once like that, it was because they were raised on wire. Once I put them in a dirt floored run, they feathered up and looked fine.
