also male ducks have a tail feather that curls back toward the head. do any of yours have this yet?

One of my pekins does but that 1 pekin and the ruen are the oldest. Somebody is starting to molt. Maybe it's the other pekin. I'm thinking they're both boys. I need to take my camera out and try to get pics. I've raised them from eggs, fed and watered then. Cleaned up after them and even suffered thru bailing out their pond all summer, scrubbing inside the homemade pond and refilling it with fresh water. We even bought them minnows and dumped them in their pond for a nice tasty treat.

But they ALL run from me. They will watch me from a distance. I wish they where friendlier. When DH caught them and we moved them to the new place they didn't fight to get out of my arms but where very happy to be let loose. They don't have a pond of any kind in their new pen......yet. DH is still working on the new pens to move the rest here. It's been 2 months just about to be 3 that we've been working on this move. But thats more in the random section. There should be a rant section. It would definately go there.

Yes.. females QUACK...males whisper. Starts about 5-6 weeks. At 1st molt, the drakes will get a curled feather on their rump.

I also raised ALL my ducks inside, cuddled, hand fed etc. Move them outside and I have become the boogie man.

I was wondering if it was because they became their own flock

But I think that is just ducks. Now on the other had.... I have 4 Sebestapol geese, same treatment and they have got to be the friendliest and mischievous critters on the ranch.
