never fails !

I received eggs today and the box was marked hatching eggs no xray. The mail lady was so nervous because chicks were in the box hatching. She was hoping they were not hatching in her truck!
The box came from Texas. It was shipped on Saturday. Was at the sorting facility in Columbia,SC last night at 11pm.
That was the first priority box I received in 2 days. Always takes 3 days for me to get it.
The corners on the outside of the box were definitly wrinkled but not crushed. The eggs were individually bubble wrapped and placed into a small box inside the large 12x12x8 inch priority mail box. No broken eggs!!! I haven't looked for aircells or cracks, but so far so good.

I have had the best luck with hatching eggs packed this way. The other way is in the small Priority Box with shredded paper on the bottom then big bubble wrap then the eggs standing on end with the air sack up, then more large bubble wrap and then shredded paper/crumpled paper to make the box almost over full. I guess I have had a lot of luck too with the eggs wrapped in the large bubble wrap like Corancher wraps her eggs.

The thinner the box the less luck I have had.

I like to make crumple zones. I wrap each egg then I place only 8 eggs in the center of an egg carton leaving 2 spaces at both ends of the carton empty for a crumple zone. I wrap 4 layers of large bubble wrap around the cartons. Then I crumple paper around them for more crumple zones. I packed the eggs this way, kicked the box around, threw it up in the air and let it hit the walkway several times. When I checked the eggs they were not broken, so that is what I do.

P.S. I am not laughing at you...just the thought of kicking around a box of eggs like that.

Awwwww! I lost our last cat in July. Sunday morning I woke to find a baby rat (what I thought was a big mouse) in my Serama coop! I'm not crazy about cats, but considering getting another, too bad IA is so far from FL. Love a calico!

I am dropping your eggs at the PO today so then you can tell me how well they did in shipping and if the packing worked. I figure if they drop them down the chutes, throw the boxes across the sorting facility, haul them onto trucks to move across the country, they should be able to handle some high drops onto cement and kicking if I want them to survive the trip. Now if an elephant happens by and sits on the box ........they are going to get scrambled.

And... after she does all that.... I can tell you that the box arrived as if she lived next door. Seriously, it was a priority mail box and it was pristine inside and out. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. ~Ben Franklin.
