so i lurk, waiting for February before I hatch any more.

JenLyn -- The quail I hatched from your eggs are laying
jumpy.gif
They started laying 8 days ago. The boys started crowing before that...man do they make a lot of noise. I need to learn the proper names for the colors. I have 1 white male, 1 yellow female (Golden Manchurian?), one male that is rust or cinnamon colored, 1 brownish female, and 2 brownish males. We will be keeping Rusty, and the 2 females. I wanted to keep the white male, but he has a crooked neck. I will put a few eggs in the bator next week and hope for more white ones. I might make some tiny loaves of bread to slice, and cook everyone in the family a couple of quail eggs with tiny toast on a saucer this weekend

reese -- the quail I hatched from your eggs are doing great, 3 weeks old, and from reading up on various threads, I think I am able to pick out males and females...time will tell

I have several yellow ones, both male and female I think, and 2 that have white patches on their wing and breast...hope I have a male and female of those. I have a bit more run building to do outside to get ready for winter then I will be turning my porch into a quail/rabbit/cavy living space. It is heated and lit and has lots of windows (should the need for airing out arise )

Hot2Pot and Ray n Debi -- My Ameracaunas and Araucanas go into lockdown tomorrow...only 9 of 25, the rest were clear. Some have very weird air cells, but are developing so...should have more little fluff balls by this weekend.

In his service- If you show me a picture I can tell you the colors. The yellow ones are goldens. Good chance you got a cinnomon. I didnt have any cinnamon from the start and didnt hatch any for about 8 or 9 months then a couple started popping up here and there and I started saving them now i have about 6 cinnamon breeders.

Henthymes- Congrats!

Countryuppiechick I got my package will be sending eggs tomorrow. Thanks!

Hey Jen, I have three yellow so far, two solid yellow and one with some stipes, are they all goldens? I also have several that a rust color, is that cinnamon? I have some that have white chests and brown tops, what are they? I will definitely send you some pics when they are done hatching so you can tell me what they are. It is soo exciting and they are just sooo darn cute! DH is already wanting me to perfect a pickling recipe for their eggs.
