I want to move to NC so bad! I want to live just outside Asheville with a lot of chickens! <3

Yeap, I live about an hour east of Asheville, in between Charlotte and the mountains aka "the foothills". You could not pay me enough to want to go back and live in FL now that I've lived here. I love the fact the we live in the country but are only about 7 minutes from town that has everything!

I miss my swimming pool. To make matters worse, we can't sell the house due to the crappy housing market. So we are renting it out. And we added a screen room for my studio, I miss that. But I could not have chickens there:p

We almost moved to the Hillsboro/Durham area. I was supposed to move cross country and open a restaurant with the chef I used to work with as pastry chef at a farm to table place in Durham. We visited the area and fell in love an couldnt wait to move there. We found out the day after we got back to Portland that I was pregnant. When permit issues delayed the opening to right around my due date coupled with the crash in the housing market, we decided to stay put. Now we live on acreage and grow our own food!

And no alligators, you can jump right in the lakes and not worry about getting eaten! I think I would like to live about halfway between Clarkesville, GA and Asheville, NC. My dad lives in Clarkesville and loves it. I love it too. It's so beautiful there. I was born a city girl and lived in suburbia all my life, but I hear the CALL OF THE WILD and need me some elbow room, you know!? 4 years from now I will BE THERE.

When I move away though, I will miss florida's natural springs. We go to blue springs at least once a week and free-dive. I can get just below 60 feet without an air tank. We got our scuba diving certs last year and have really enjoyed it. We need to get nitrox certified and start our cave diving certs. Our roomie is leaving for Cypress to get his divemastership - a 2 month course but it's so worth it and he will be doing what he loves!

Don't sell Oregon short though, I've been there too, it's very beautiful and your climate is awesome! I love how green everything is! And I love that you don't have sand - you have ROCKS~ how amazing is that, I can't even BUY rocks here, drowning in sand it's so stupid.

When I lived in Florida, and went on vacation other places, I used to bring rocks home for my fish pond. I did miss rocks. Even here we don't have much rock, just clay type soil with goat and chicken poop added:-D

Oregon. I don't miss living in Portland much as are area was making me start to feel really out of touch with "the new generation" which is really weird because most are peers. Just wasn't my scene. Now have land with chickens, a sunrise overlooking Mount Hood and a sunset overlooking the costal range which can all be enjoyed from our deck. Oh and don't even get me started on our sky view. It's like a private planetarium! Nah... I love it here!

my cousin lives in Clarkesville, I lived there for a couple of months in 05, I had just found out I was pregnant after my stepdad had a fatal car accident, mom needed a change in scenery and always wanted to live in the mountains... crazy woman moved up there in the dead of winter.... lived in a hundred and something year old house with my cousin and her family... only had stove heat.... NEVER AGAIN lol. It is beautiful up there though, want to go back and visit helen with my daughter. Would also like to take her to the cabbage patch.

Quiet day! I'm looking for some colored guinea eggs if anyone has any for a side swap! I just discovered a guinea nest by my back door!

But, I've only got pearl and one lavender. I'd love to get some more colors in here. Pm me if anyone has any and we can figure out what I've got that you can't live without!

I love, love, love Florida!! Born and raised, never lived anywhere else, but I want to move somewhere warmer! Central Florida winters can get darn right frigid. I love the different plants further south. Probably never happen though. For now my sites are set for Gulfport or Hudson. I think Tennessee and North Carolina are beautiful and so different from here but I'd never survive the winters.
