Michelle, so glad you heard from him. I'd panic too. Luckily, my husband only hunts things in the refrigerator.

So glad that he made it home okay. My husband hunts too (grouse & pheasant) and I worry about him getting lost sometimes too. He puts a GPS on the dog collar, but not himself. I could always find the dog

Thanks guys I appreciate it. I worry a little too much sometimes I think. But we have 4 kids together so it would not only be my loss but the kids also. I couldn't even begin to think of how to tell them.

I guess he fell down a hill while he was hunting thought and pulled a muscle and his phone got wet and wasn't working. He found a road though and just walked it until his friends found him. So glad he is home and safe.

I like the deer he brings home just don't know if it is worth it. I told him they should be required to wear a bullet proof vest. He told me I was over reacting.

Pauletta - here is what your metal rooster will be doing. He is going to be put on a shelf in the barn which is out in view at the end of the isle before the tack room. Going to look AWESOME!!

Deer hunting is not as safe as I think it once was, to be honest there are some crazy people in this world today... Several years ago we had a good friend (young in his early 30's) go hunting with a friend or two in FL. He was shot not once, not twice but three times by someone else in the same area. Despite him saying "don't shoot" more than once the other party still shot him. He suffered bullets to the head, chest and legs. By the grace of god he has survived, however will never be the same again. He suffered much brain damage and the bullets are still their as it was too risky to remove them. He can now speak but rather slow. He lost his excellent paying job as the Dr. would not release him to work again even two years later. The beyond frightening thing for me was that he did ask my husband to go that day but for some reason we had something else going on. I am sad and thankful all at the same.

Oh, and the heartfelt part of this story is that our friend never pursued legal action against the man that almost took his life.
