If I get a chance to grab something next week I will probably also offer up Periwinkle. I will have to get some photos of it. I think it is variegated and has the prettiest blue flowers on it. Not blooming now but I may have photos on Drivezilla.

I forget what plants I do have around here because I can only grow Iris. Anything else I put in the ground dies.

I have an awesome Iris called Bayberry Candle but can't find the photos of it. I need to dig them up and move them because the ducks tried to smash them this year with their big butts.

Here's a link to someone else's photo.........

ooo ^^ those are pretty!

Yall wont believe it. My kid decided NOT to listen to the teacher this afternoon and ended up on the car ramp instead of the bus ramp. So I had to leave work for half an hour to go get her! UGGGH

OH and not to mention this morning the bus driver ran MORE than 12 minutes early and left my kid. So I had to drive her this morning. It is a good thing I was waiting by the road for the bus this morning though, the 10 year old that lives near us takes his dog to the bus stop with him and when he gets on the bus the dog hangs out by the road waiting for her kid. That poor puppy almost got hit this morning. TWICE. Then on the way back this morning from taking her to school there are three (well were but I have only seen two lately) dogs that live a mile down the road and when the people go off to work they leave them outside. They like to wander out by the road in the tall grass chasing mice and stuff. One of them almost got NAILED this morning. I laid on my horn all the way down the hill to get the guys attention so he wouldnt hit the dog who was dumb enough to stand in the middle of the dang road!

I swear. Why do people get animals when they arent going to teach them to stay out of the road and they dont take care of them properly. The boys dog, she is just a pup, maybe 6 or 7 months and she is a chocolate lab mix so she is just stupid, she hasnt been properly trained. However I told her to get in my car and she hopped right in laid down and was very good. I took her back down to my house and let her out so she wouldnt be up by the road. She knows how to get home from my house. Her boy helps my grampa build all the coops and do yard work like mowing the grass when our outdated mower deck on the tractor actually has blades.... they dont make them anymore so we have to improvise. Looking for a new one but WOOF mowers are EXPENSIVE

It's not easy exactly but not super hard either. I've made only one batch so far but it turned out ok I guess. I'll be trying a second batch as soon as I get the fragrance oil in the mail. There are a lot of sites that are helpful. Some of them have recipes and helpful hints on how to get started. The main thing is that using lye can be dangerous because it is caustic so you have to be careful, wear gloves, eye protection, etc. There are books and things that are helpful too. I am working on collecting some of those books.

I havent gotten very far with it yet but I think it's fun and will definitely be trying more. YOu can also buy a melt and pour base that is perfectly safe cause theres no lye involved. YOu just melt it and add any fragrance or color you want and then pour it into whatever mold you want. I bought some of this for my little girl to use. She's six and I dont want her messing around in the kitchen when I use lye for cold process. Soapmaking was her idea in the first place though so I want her to be able to participate some so I got the M&P and bought her some fragrance oil she picked (cream soda) and when it comes in the mail I will let her try it out. Sorry this is so long-winded. I would give it a try if it sounds like something you would like. LIquid soap is a little harder I think. That's what I've heard.

Check out the soap queen on you tube. I think they are made by brambleberry which is an online store where you can buy supplies for making soaps. These videos helped me a bunch.

It's not rocket science, but it is chemestry. A decient working knowledge of chemestry is a huge help, but many learn as they go. The main thing to remember is that soap making is like canning, it's not a recipie that you can substitute, but a formulia to follow, if you botch up either of these you can be quite injured. the stuff people think of when it comes to soap, scent and color are interchangable, but your base formulia is not.

As for that bar, a batch is made, a few ounces are dyed different colors, and then they're poured in on top of each other to for the swirls.

yall don't get me started on wanting to make my own soap! DH would seriously kill me. I've got about 10 books on soap making but it's not a hobby I have time for which is sad because I've got all these crazy wonderful ingredients that would make some killer soap!
