Oh my goodness, lovely chicken and wonderful grass! Mine is green but not that thick. My chickens would love it.

These are the chicks that were hatched Jan. 5. The two silkies are from cuntryuppiechick. The dark one with the red streaks is her mystery egg, believed to be a sex link/silky cross. The top part is regular feathers but past the wings is all silkie fluff. I assume it's a he. It's a shame too because it's such a beautiful bird. The barred is from my sex link roo over a btw jap.

Here's a better shot of Alvin. Cool, huh?

Ray_n_Debi - glad your husband is home. Sending prayers for quick recovery.

Update on eggs in incubator - took the advice offered and once the power came on left them to warm back up. We were without power for about 22 hours and it was mighty cold in the house. Anyway, I gathered my courage this morning and candled them - OMG! Almost everyone is moving and alive! 3 are pipped internally even! I have them in my bedroom with a space heater running to warm the room and they are now on lock down. I am stunned and overjoyed that some of the babies will survive. I sent my only baby brooder with the 2 wk chicks, so have to quickly construct something today. Things are looking up. Roof is replaced on shop, hubby just got home with new garage door for it. Still much to clean up and it's snowing this morning LOL but it is working out.

Thank you all so much for the well wishes. Our friends and family are being a huge help also, each day things just improve.

Before you know it they will be peeking out at you! Tough little buggers!

Stuck in the Coop-- Yay on the eggs!!

Debi-- Yay on the husband!!!

Thank you! Me too!
Grandkids came out yesterday. While I was out with the boys, they helped me with the chickens, My daughter and the bigger girls were doing laundry, vacuuming and cleaning the bathroom. The little girls were amusing hubby.
So much stress was relieved having that help. I didn't do anything but rush through feeding the animals and I only came home and did that every other day, I filled them up. Wasted food but I didn't want them hungry. I even had chicks hatch and they all survived.

Paris-- Got my lovely blue chicken in lightning fast time! Thanks I love it!!!

UPDATE: eggs

Hey, guys haven't been on for a few days now, have been busy with the second shift that I took up for school. It is worth it though. :D Real quick I would like to say that I love babies. Today I went to IFA and bought 4 babies (1 silkie for sure, can't remeber other breeds) and tommorrow I am going to buy two 10 day old pygmy goats. Can't wait. Okay back to what I posted for... today is hatch day on eggs, before I put them in lockdown I decided to see if they were still developing so I did. I candled the eggs and took a bunch out. Most of the eggs were infertile or stopped forming pretty early on. But I still have 4 eggs in incubator. 1 GLC, 1 of my eggs, and 2 white Silkies. I can't wait for them to hatch.
Thank you everyone for the eggs, I think the reason some of them stopped forming early on was my power went off and it went down to 50 F (It's cold here) And I think the reason for infertlity was that it is winter and the roo's are just getting back into the swing of things. So I don't think it was anyone's fault. Hope they hatch.

Well, glad you got at least 1 GLC!!! I'll be mailing you a mixed bunch of eggs on the 12th, PM me if this has changed!!! 10 day old Goats!?!?!? Sounds like too much work for me!!! Good to see ya.

Yup! All it said was Bronze turkey on the container. Don't know if it's a girl or boy. Thought well if you have to make room for one turkey you might as well have 3, right? But Thought I might be pushing my luck so I got just one. Hope it's a boy. Gonna name him Ken after my Dad. He's gonna be my best bud. If it's a girl, she's just gonna have to like the name Ken.
