I cracked open two but only got my camra for the second one

This guy is plenty old enough and I have seen him breed the girls , I have 2 other roos in with butter should I put them all to gether (minus butter) just switch them out or are those eggs fertel and it was just a fluke that mine didnt grow.
If the eggs are not fertle I will send out ether more serama eggs to replace them or you can wait till I get the quail laying fertle eggs again and Ill send those .

Hi everyone! I know I am spuratic at this whole swapping thing but I love to pop in when I do have the time because I think you all are just wonderful people!
Anyway, last time we talked I was waiting for eggs from 3 of you to hatch. None did. :( the disappointment led me to ask for an r com incubator for Xmas and dh said he thinks he can do that. So looks like I will be watching for eggs again! :D
Randome stuff with me- a couple of you know I've been in cosmetology school 40+ hrs a week, well I love it. It also looks like we are adding a doxen puppy to the family next month.
Oh and I did get the awful cocci under control a while back, (don't know if I ever mentioned that,) and my chickens have been very happy and healthy.
I will try to stay more up to date with you all now.

I am definitely not an expert, but don't those 2 white bulls eyes in center mean theyre fertile?

They look fertile to me. All eggs have a germinal disc but its only when there appears to be growth on it and/or a ring around it, is it fertile. In the first picture you can just barely see a ring around the disc where it looks like it started to develop but then something happened. How long did you have them in your incubator Gabrielle?

These are just fresh laid eggs Im always to scared to open incubated eggs . They have been burying there eggs sometimes I wonder if one started to grow, they are so smal I just cant tell even that there fertle or not. My bator came unplugged twice but I only lost 2 of the serama I set 6 are all full of baby except the air cell.

Gab, how to tell if there is a quail inside a quail egg. You cant see the chick, but you ca see a change in the egg. Candle a clear egg, and you will see its almost a blue cast to the egg. and you can see the light on the top of the egg the way you can a clear white chicken egg.

Once it has something in it ( 7-10 days depending on the candler) you will not see the light at the top of the egg, it will look opaque. Cant see a chick, but you can see the egg looks different. Hope that makes some sense. I do chick/no chick for quail eggs and its fairly accurate.

We did have an infertile roo in one of our pens at one point. So it can happen. His cage had about a 12% fertility rate. There was another boy in there but he didn't mate much while blank boy was in there.

But if there is a bullseye in one of your eggs it should be ok, just start candling the quails until you can see the difference, once you are looking for it it gets more obvious.

Yup! Some eggs you can see little veins in them early on, but it's not reliable to toss eggs that early. I don't toss eggs until the lockdown candle, then anything that's clear gets tossed, but anything that is questionable stays until a day or so after hatch.

I agree. I usually don't toss them unless they smell bad or are oozing. Otherwise, they won't be tossed until they go into lockdown and only if they're clear.
