This most be the month of morons.. No offense anyone. I had someone looking to purchase eggs from me. I PMed and email them several times for conformation to ship, due to weather and their incubator space etc.. 2 weeks later I get an email stating they hardly get on the internet, I should have called. Ummm.. no, I do make a practice of calling customers. They claimed they weren't aware of the procedure since it was their first time getting eggs. Whatever, now they want the eggs buy I had had other orders. I explained that they lost their slot and gave them the next available ship date. They accepted.
So I shipped the eggs and a week later get a nasty PM about how disappointed they were. They were upset because the eggs were 4-5 days old at shipping ( I date my eggs now) and the PO took 4 days to get the eggs to them. WHAT !! It was for 12+ I sent 18 eggs ... 4 eggs were 5 days old....the extra , extras . They got their 12 fresh eggs plus extra and more extras...what the heck more do you want !!
Amazing, how quick they got on the internet to send me a nasty message. I sent them a firm response back explaining that sending eggs 4 days old at time of shipping is standard procedure, etc.......and have not heard a word.

I agree.. I will be stating an absolute NO guarantee...buy at your own risk statement .

Just so aggravating !!!
And these people seem to find the nicest, most generous people to pick on. Lots of entitlement out there - makes me worry about my children's futures.

Good grief! really complaining the eggs were 5 days old?? Shoot Ive gotten eggs 10-14 days old before! at MY request.. If I REALLY want a breed of bird and the breeder only has 2-3 hens of that breed...I tell the breeder to collect for a week then send so I can get as many as possible! I promise them I would NOT get upset whatsoever on hatch rates because I asked for it. I NEVER asked for a refund from anyone ever...I have never asked for replacements ever I will HOWEVER take eggs if the seller offers replacements :)

Eesh. If I asked for replacements on all the eggs that had 50% hatch rate or less, I'd probably have 400 birds here!!! I DO contact the seller if there are an excessive number of clears, but more for their own sake, so they can figure out if there's something with the eggs or if shipping is reducing viability (or whatever). I've had plenty of shipments that ended in NO birds or only one bird.

Okay - lessoned learn; not only do I need my snowpants on to get to the compost bin, but my snowshoes would have been very helpful. The drifts out by the garden keep growing. It was a good work out, however!

to me if they want it that fresh then they need to find someone local and get it fresh from the hens rear end. I am experimenting with my own flock now to test viability on eggs that I deliberately let sit for a few weeks ...lol I just wanted to see the outcome...and I set them with some swapping eggs too. Honestly I haven't had luck with shipped chicken eggs...but I keep trying. I can't get a Maran egg to hatch for nothing. :0( my own flock are like popcorn.

People these days think everyone owes them something, you gave them extras didn't they understand that? I used to have a craft business and did custom orders I would do what they ordered but when they got it it's not what they expected??????? What? got the order right here, sorry but that's what you ordered or how bout this I would personalize with paint and brush on wood signs it would rain or they would brush up against something and want me to give them a new one or fix it right in the middle of a show, I would tell them you sure you want to take it it's wet oh no it will be ok I will be careful, crazy.

I personally have set my own eggs ..sitting on the counter 21 day. 17 hatched, including the oldest egg.

And same here: if I had gotten 100% or even 80-90% on shipped eggs I would have a thousand birds here

Craft shows are awful. I can't believe the number of kids who come by, unattended (COMPLETELY UNATTENDED) and smash my bath bombs into powder in one swift move. Or they'll dig their fingernails into my soap. While my soap is wrapped, I STILL don't like to sell blemished bars! Or, I get a lot of grubby fingers all over it. While it doesn't damage the soap, I still sometimes have to re-wrap or relabel my soaps or candles! Like, come on people, have a LITTLE bit of respect. If I do any shows this year, I'll have a big bold sign that states "you mess it up, you buy it! That goes for your kids too!!!"
