I offer target practice!

I was hoping the my meal worms would go to the next stage so I could ship out the swaps I owe, but they are not cooperating. So I'll send out large worms and small ones and if I have enough for a partical order of beetles I'll throw them in. I'll have everything sent out by Monday.
I'm in no rush either, whenever you get them out is fine!

My dh just saw my eggs owed list on my swap page...

I'm so grounded. Chicken hoarding really sneaks up on you!

At least we worked out a system with this morning. My dad was going to order some fryers but now is going to take my cockerals at the first crow. Him and my mom live on 10 acres and have no birds. Why didn't we think of this sooner?
Anyway, it is going to be so hard for me not to claim all the eggies I want for a little while.

Sounds like the conversation I had this morning with my Mr. I'm not claiming more eggs until most of the chicks I bought/hatched to sell are sold. I actually like the restriction. I have quite a few swaps due me, and I think waiting until those have been received will be a good idea.

I put myself on that restriction and only try to get eggs that will help with the breeds I have or to get a few so my daughter can show for 4H. I have a bit of a list of Spring eggs that I claimed in Sept, Oct. and Nov. from another swap so I don't want to over-extend because I don't know when they will show up and I only have so much incubator/brooder space. I have a terrible time selling anything up here, anyways. I've got young roos coming out of my ears - can't even give them away. I can't even sell young pullet chicks right now. Spring has not shown its face and we still have 3 feet of snow on the ground - people just aren't in the mood to think about brooding chicks right now. I'm hoping to see the ground by May!

I had a what are you nuts moment this morning when I walked over the drifts of snow the get to my various coops. I certainly understand the people are not in the mood for chicks. We had lovely weather a few weeks ago and I had a guy who wanted several young pullets/hens . Then we got the bad weather and he still wants them but when the weather gets nicer. So I get to feed them, break the ice in the water, take the lost if I die during a snowstorm.. I must be nuts.

I wouldn't do it unless he pays you more for the feed and time and effort you are putting into them. Like you said if one dies cause of this freakish weather it comes out of your pocket.

Quote: Yep, we ARE nuts! I've heard the same from many people, they want to wait till the weather is nicer.

*We spent our day cutting up a beautiful big red maple tree that had fallen over this past summer at our lot on a lake. The tree was partially in the lake so we had taken care of most of the parts laying in the water in the fall, but waited until the lake was frozen to cut the rest up since it is easirer to move the pieces off of the snowcovered ice that to get them out of water. I am going to feel it big time tomorrow. Our teens were there, but I can lift more than the 2 girls put together. The son Can lift more than his mother (which was helpful). Some straight pieces we left in lengths so that we can have them milled into boards. We want to build a few things with it. I had always love the beauty of this tree and was really sad when it came down.
