Perhaps my streak of bad luck is ending?? I put 3 eggs into lockdown on Friday (2 EE's from eggorthechicken and 1 of my own). I had my hatcher just a tad cooler than I had been running it. The past two hatches, I had 1 chick hatch out the day after lockdown, and the rest died... Yesterday late afternoon (5ish), I checked on them... Nothing. My bator is at work, so it's a little easier for me to stay hands off. This morning when I got to work, there was a chick hatched and dry, and the other two had pipped. The other to hatched out perfectly fine during the course of the morning! So that was 3 for 3 that went into lockdown!!!! Yay!!!!

I have another set of eggs (rainbow layers from SewChaos) going into lockdown on Wednesday, then my duck eggs from SilkieSensation next Monday... Hoping for good results!
Good luck with the duckies. I got 1 chick from the batch I got from you. It hatched yesterday. It was in the bator that I'm still having issues with temperature fluctuations on, so I had a lot that quit about half way through. This 1 was a little buff & was almost a week late. I had almost given up on it & wasn't paying attention so it started to shrink wrap before I saw it had pipped finally. I soaked it down & loosened it up & let it finish hatching. It's now running around the brooder with the rest of the crew. Still looks a bit sticky, but it's doing good.

Was pondering posting a couple of critters on here, but they'd be local pickup and such.. would that be a problem? Just thought I could see.

There's a Buy Sell Trade section for ads, but it never hurts to mention what you have available on the chat threads. Never know who will see it that may be close to you.

I have a few local pickup critters to swap and or..

3 andalusian Hens, barely 1 yr. old now, and just starting to lay very nicely! I'm trying to force myself to make room for some up and coming new projects, otherwise I would be keeping them. ($50 or, maran hatching eggs, or.. hmm..)

1 or 2 sheep, depending on what you want them for. Georgia the Dorset and queen, and Cookie the Dorset, suffolk cross. They were 4H projects, and as usual.. I became entirely too attached to just up and eat them when she was through with 4H. lol
5 and 6 yrs old now, didn't get a chance to breed them (yet) due to flooding 3 yrs in a row at the only cert. "clean" ram in the area getting flooded .. keep that story short.

and a Standard Partridge Cochin Rooster, (from McMurray hatchery) barely 1 yr old. I have 2, so one must go. Be it eaten or hopefully someone on here can make better use of him given his good disposition making him likeable.
(I also have entirely too many horses, but that's a tail for another day

well, yell if anything strikes your fancy.

I have gotten 2 mealworm kits in plastic from bnews...all were fine .  :)

Mine were all alive as well. At first, I thought they were sealed tightly, but when I looked closely, there were little holes poked in the plastic lid so they could get air..

OHH!! I wanna know how they do!

I'll let you know!!

I'm glad you got one anyway.... Sad about the quitters. :(
The one of mine that hatched today was a little buff. I was so excited!! I was supposed to give it to my friend, but I think I might keep it!

This 1 has finally fluffed up most of the way & is starting to eat, so I think it will be fine. I was worried for a while because I wasn't sure how long it was stuck to the shell before I found it. The bator is in my daughter's room & when she got up yesterday morning she informed me that a chick had been peeping all night & kept her awake. Usually she comes & gets me if 1 does that. Don't know why she didn't this time.

I was beginning to wonder about the meal worm kits that maybe people were being nice and not letting me know they arrived dead. I'm willing to replace if they arrive dead or something doesn't work out. As you know the postal office isn't to kind to our packages. I'm going to avoid shipping Thursday-Sunday to insure they are not left in a hot delivery truck on a Sunday. (think that is what might have happened to the DOA ones)
