WHAT YA GOT SWAP Chat Thread

I have spent the last hour working on a new pattern for chicken saddle/sweater in crochet. I finally got it the way I wanted it and took it out to try on my favorite girl, Olive. She is an OE that I got in a swap from Chiqita several months ago. Very pleased to say that it worked wonderfully and I will be adding these to my swapping stockpile! I will post a pic in a few.

this is olive in her sweater. had to roll up the length because she is only a couple months old.

This pic, she doesn't have it on but I just wanted to show her off.

She came from the 3 silkie/3 OE eggs that I got from you in November (Post #999 in the swap thread). If she didn't come from yours, I am really confused as they were the only ones in the bator. The other one that hatched was a silkie mix and his name is Mo (short for mohawk) He is a beautiful buff silkie mix.

Weird. I dont have anything that would be cuckoo. I do have a showgirl rooster thats buff partridge but he usually throws partridge chicks.

Color me confused now lol . I love the apron however too so carryon!

Those of you that make preserves and jam etc....point me in the direction of where to learn more. I'd like to try my hand at making some this spring/summer. I've read a few books so far. Just thought I'd ask some of you who have done it for awhile. Thanks!

I've been doing it for years. You are within driving range of me. I would be happy to teach you if your a hands on learner. I can't read a book and learn, I have to be taught by someone. My grandmothers taught me.

Oh you are sweet. My problem is getting any significant time to do it. I usually can read and fumble through and learn...it's how I learned to make soap and stuff like that too...enough screw ups and I figure it out. Do you have recipes that you can give me...easy ones lol? I'd like to make something with reduced sugar but still tastes good.

I know the basics of canning veggies and stuff like that just like to have some good recipes for jams and preserves...and then squeeze in time to do it. :0) working just gets in the way....erg.

Most of my recipes are super easy, just a little different than what people are used to. There are recipes from the good old days when you had to make stuff out of what you had. Our favorites are corn cob jelly, dandelion jelly and wild violet jelly. I have tons of the usuals because I have apple, peach, cherry, fig and plum trees along with mulberry, blackberry, rED raspberry, strawberries and blueberries.
