She did some this summer but after she was confronted about stealing the 13 year olds cell phone and tablet as well of some other things she hasn't came back.
We all have black sheep in the family. They may be very close or distant relatives but unfortunately they exist. I took the boys to the 16th annual Buck Creek Trail Ride which is a St. Jude fundraiser. We had a great time. I always bring silkies to donate for the auction. It's a good thing most of the crowd brings lots of money. I had won a Dutch Doll quilt at a show and I donate that also for the auction. I dont' have girls in the house. There where home made cakes that went for $60. A man bought a huge TV for $1800.00 then turned around and donate it back to the auction and it went for $600 the 2nd time. Somebody had an autographed guitar, a poster and a CD by Brad Paisly. The guitar went for $4,000.00.
Last year they collected over $70,000.00. I'm willing to guess they topped that this year. It was packed. It's a weekend event and everything goes straight to St. Jude. The lady that holds it is the same one that comes out and does the NPIP and AI testing.
Oh and we had celebrities there. The people from Full Throttle Saloon was there. They have a distillery in Trenton which is very close to where I live and also the fundraiser.
People come from all over to this fundriser. Maybe some of you can make plans to come next year. Bring your horses. You can find info on Facebook. Just search Buck Creek Trail Ride.
We had a good time at the Trail Ride saturday night. Well we were there all day. The boys where exhausted. The 13 year old met a new girl. He seems to be able to do that anywhere he goes. lol The little one has been talking about riding the donkey. lol It was a mechanical bull. One of the venders had clackers. Anybody remember those. Boy that was a walk down memory lane. Just in case, they are large glass balls much like marbles that have a string that goes thru the middle and has a knot to keep them there, and the string is attached to a key ring so the balls are even and you make them swing hit each other. If you don't do it right you'll end up with bruises. Both the boys got one and that oh so familiar clacking sound brings back memories or past bruises I got from learning to do tricks with them. I'm surprised they aren't banned because they aren't the safest toys. But they where fun.
They had tug of war for the kids and they had to dress a goat, scavenger hunts, dancing contest, pony dress up contest, pony rides, a dunk tank which my older grandson was one of the first to get dunked and the little one dunked him. The kids got to be in the tank if they wanted to and as warm as it was they had lots of volunteers. The 13 year old was on the go from the time we got there till we left.
As of yesterday the amount raised was $76,000.00. They always have things they did that they have to collect the money from after the fund raiser. They do everything they can think of to raise money, even collect can tabs. We save ours all year for school and the fund raiser and so does our neighbor. They send theirs with us. People came from as far as Florida and they do every year. They allow alcohol but don't tolerate those that can't handle it. They have police patrolling and thousands of people that are fast to step in to stop anything that those like to start.
Maybe some of you will plan to attend next year. It's always at the end of September.

Wow, things here are really crawling.
Fall has arrived and the corn is being harvested all over the place. My fall batch of meaties is done and the freezer is full.
I have someone coming for a trio of Icelandics on Thursday but still have a higher number than I wanted to have going into winter. A few cockerels will be going as soon as I make the decision of who is the lucky one.

Hola again Sistah!!! We did our meaties ( meaning me) in Sept...did 12 and Im content 
Next year trying to raise the bresse for meat as close to the french way as possible to maximize meat
well see I did freedom rangers this year and they were easier than CX...still sloppy but not nearly as bad..ewww I wish I could have let mine grow another two weeks but my other partners in crime were ready to process theirs and I had no choice since we split costs of machine rentals...and I fed my guys goats milk soaked grains and regular feed with tons of garden goodies...what I cut out of them were 1-2 lb yellow 
fat slabs off their bellies!!! It was unreal...i was bummed thinking they were getting really meaty and I just made them Fat as heck

My spring batch were Freedom Rangers but this fall batch were Cornish x.....didn't have the extra weeks for the FR. I was happy with both but the Cx are sooo much more stinky! It is a great feeling to know the freezer is full and by spring I'll have forgotten how I was tired of fooling with them and ready for them to go. After eating them all winter the memory will fade......kinda like childbirth....you forget the pain with the joy that comes after.
I think often of this swap and some of the cool things I got here and use frequently. For example, a watering can from Susan in Florida that was part of a gift set and Flowers' Saintly Salve, which I have "nursed" along for a long time and is now to the bottom of the jar.

My mom got "in the mood" for making hand crocheted kitchen towels!
How it is made:
She cuts a store-bought towel in half and sews the ragged end to prevent fraying. Then, she uses store-bought yarn to crochet through the top of the kitchen towel and creates a loop to fit over an oven handle, drawer pull, or refrigerator handle. Then she adds a button to hold it in place. People at the local farmers market are buying these 4 and 5 at a time to give as presents at Christmas. So, I thought I'd offer up a batch of 4 or 5 as a swap!
Towels are pre-made. I can message you photos of your options if you choose a category:
-Fruit designs
-Leaf designs
-Fall harvest
-Halloween-themed
-Wine designs
-Coffee designs
-Teapots
-Flower designs (i.e. sunflower)
Open to suggestions for finding hen/rooster themed towels. The local stores have very few in stock and everyone wants them!

-large buttons (3/4"-1" diameter) for making more towels
-beeswax for making salves/homemade lotion
