I'm so sorry to hear the news Sonew. I pray you catch the predator. If I have anything you are interested in please let me know. If I can help at all, in any way please let me know!!

Day time attacks where all birds are killed are likely the work of one or more dogs. They will rip through chicken wire, and even twist chain link to get at the birds. I read a lot of the posts on this topic. The other daytime predators are generally hawks , black vultures, and sometimes foxes or coons if they are very hungry or rabid. I am trying to learn more on this to prevent any further losses. It is hard to keep them cooped up, but even harder to see them killed:hit:hit:hugs They do so love to get out and run.

You mentioned living near a campground...is there a trail through the woods to this campground? You might find more MiA's there. Also, if you get down to the campground and look around before anyone has a chance to clean up, you might find some feathers or something that will give you a clue. Maybe talk to the owner of the campground and tell him what happened. If it was a dog from there, someone saw something and will come forward. Maybe even put up signs asking for information on the "massacre of your farm animals and pets".

Just a thought. I hope you find something out. The waiting is the hardest part.

Very good thinking..ill call the camp ground to give them a heads up thank u so much

I have been following the swap thread for a very long time and just wanted to say how bad I feel for you having to find your chickens like that. If it was a "pet" dog there would have to be some evidence on the dog I would think so someone really must know if their dog did that or not. Do you have problems with wild dogs in your area?

Hello all...my name is Kim and I have been following the swap thread and am getting pretty hooked. I am really looking for a way to hatch out a few eggs for my granddaughter and I to see. Does anyone by any possible chance have a mini or homemade incubator they are willing to swap? I have some very lovely old plain and printed feed sacks I can trade as well as some pre-made feed sack blocks. I have lots of other quilting items as well...if anyone can help out please pm me.

sonew ... so sorry to hear about your loss.

Maybe holding the dog hostage for reimbursement (if it looks like a pet and you can determine the owner) is a good idea.

I have buff orpingtons that I could send you some hatching eggs if you want. Or EEs after I test for fertility (they just got roos a few weeks ago) My barred rocks are almost laying, and I have silver sebrights laying. (I have golden sebrights not laying yet but you could have all the sebrights - they are quite feisty. Just don't tell my DD.

I wish you owed me eggs so I could tell you to keep them for your self.
