Called the house and spoke to the kids. The box on one corner is practically non-existent

and another corner looks bad.

Nothing trying to escape the box, I hope that means nothing is broken.

Old pro at shipping? Might have to say something. Did they state how they pack and ship? Did you ask? I am very guilty of not asking and just assume (yes I know an A out of U and ME) that they will follow what I am used to from buying eggs on here. Truthfully BYC has really spoiled me in regards to that.

I think this will be the last eggs I have shipped. Several great breeders on here suggested by the time I go thru paying for buying, shipping, time to hatch, brood, feed, cull- I could have just driven somewhere and purchased a started bird. Even with today's gas prices it would probably be better than going thru the above. I am going to have to figure out a better quarantine system if I do though.

Which silkie people are planning on going to Crossroads? I am looking for pullets in several colors and a great black roo. I have an amazing one now but he has started to have leakage in his hackles. Just the lightest silvery touch if you hold him just right. So off to look for another one. Is this something that is easily bred out of the next generation? I have so many questions.

I need some serious breeder advice. If someone doesn't mind a lot of questions, PM me. There is so much I want to ask. I also need some critiques...maybe I should breed what I have but I live so far in the sticks and no one is local to talk to about it.

I believe they have been consistent but I can't say what type of consistent because this is a family friendly forum.

I had eggs arrive today and they called me to tell me that they felt she could have used a better box. I haven't even seen it YET and they call me to tell me that. Not "you have eggs in the office" but "the box could have been sturdier". I sent Dad in to get them, I am scared to see what the PO has done to the box. Don't you think that is just a way to avoid the blame? I have always heard that the guilty party screams first and loudest. SIGH. Maybe they are just advertising for priority boxes? Now I am scared to go home.

I double boxed them and wrote fragile on box idiots..I always send in priority mail boxes but the po was out when I went in to get a stack..so I got two boxes from work tons of newspaper for protection and bubble wrapped eggs MIN carton..they better not be ruined

Well the condition of the box seams the PO is to blame for that not you...Can't believe they are trying to blame you when they messed up the box.
When will we get pics of what they did to the box?also let us know how the eggs did...

Anna your blackberry canes are a coming too just be careful when you open them. I'm going to dig some up and send you basically just the bareroot when I send the honey and ginger!

Did ya'll see what they did to the box I got from Jim? I mean really- how hard is it to transport a box!!!

Are they disgruntled because they are government employees or because of the slower office shut downs or what? I am a disgruntled govt employee but I don't throw, stomp, shred, mangle any of my stuff. ARGH!

I am so steamed I want to go down there and slap Carol (the one that called me) in the head. The last box of eggs I got the guys down at the counter apologized for the box before Dad even saw it. That one was bad too. Then Jim's box and now this one.

I am planning a hostile takeover of the postal system...who is with me?????

Sweetie- it had nothing to do with you. They are trying really hard to find something or someone to blame besides admitting they did it. I was always told if you did something have the ..... to stand up and say yeap that was me. I am not happy about admitting when I am wrong, but I have to pull up the big girl panties and apologize. The PO should apologize in some way. If it is as bad as Dad and the kids say....I will be at the post office in person with that darn box and will be chewing someone's .
