Took my kids to youth group and waited until it was over, saving gas ya know. When we got home...yay at least 12 coturnix popping around in the bator!! Gotta stay up late tonight to move the 5 week olds to new digs and ready the brooder. Thought I had another day, but so excited to see these little fluff balls.

Aren't they so cute? I have lost track of how many I have! There are 24 that are two weeks old, but they just keep hatching, these eggs from my quail that got killed by dogs.:-(
I have three boxes of eggs to ship tomorrow . Any body else need some eggs? I get like 36 eggs a day and my bators just can't keep up. I need to sell more! Maybe I need to go post on the auction. ;-)

Anybody want to do a side swap? My partridge silkie eggs for your partridge silkie eggs? I need to replace my roo with a new bloodline. I also need to upgrade the quality. The girls take after their mother in quality and take after their father in color. His gold leakage pretty much determined their color. Here they are. All 3 hens where laying. One went broody yesterday.

Here's momma. Fancy pants. She won 4th in BV in September

This is the first 4 I hatched. 2 boys and 2 girls. I kept the girls

Here are the ones in the breeder pen. The parents are in the background and the 2 girls from the previous pic are up front. The redhead is the one that went broody. She is usually the one that is laying.

Sorry Em, I don't have any partridge silkies. Just white, red, buff, and black/ blue. I am getting another pen made so I can split the colors, only the whites have their own pen right now. Shoot, I am building as fast as I can! :-D

I know what you mean. DH has been busy from 6 am till midnight for the past 2 months. That is 7 days a week. This move is gonna make him an old man. He still needs to build 3 more pens to finish moving all the chickens to the new place. It's a good thing the old place is just next door and we own it. He rented it to relatives so the birds still being there is ok with them. Actually, they're getting attached. When we moved the ducks one of the ladies was gone. When she got home she immediately noticed her babies where gone. lol When I went to do my afternoon check on the birds she said, "So, I noticed you moved my babies. I'm gonna miss them too much." I told her to walk next door to visit MY BABIES anytime she wants. lol When the sizzles get moved she will probably cry. She sits and watched them for hours. But I did give her 5 of the 2 month old chicks.

I want to concentrate on replacing the roos this winter. Except for M.J. of course. He's not going anywhere. He's my buddy. But I plan to separate all the colors into separate pens. I won't have a bbs pen anymore. And to do that I need to put unrelated roos in the pens since the girls will be related. For the most part. Some of the girls came from other stock. And since I want to improve what I have, I need to use good roos. Not just what I can get.

Just curious, How much does one of those silkies go for that are puff balls. You know. The ones everybody drools over. Well, I know I do anyway.

Those eggs that went for $240.00 this weekend. Yep I was watching the war on that one. If I had the $$$ I would have been in it too. What does quality like that go for? I think if I ever got any that beautiful they would have to pry them from my cold dead hands first. lol I'm just curious as to their worth. I can see what the eggs are worth.

you might get a rooster for a reasonable price, but the shipping would be the killer. Check out some of the websites of those folks selling eggs, that would give you an idea.
