Sorry to hear about your pain. I hope you feel better soon.

You might want to try some pineapple juice. I had to have a root canal last spring and I couldn't get in for a couple of days. So the dentist gave me a script for pain meds. When I filled it, the clerk at the pharmacy told me to eat pineaplle the night before. She didn't know why it worked, but said it really helped with the pain. I like pineapple, so I said why not? The pain meds were barely making a dent in the pain, so the night before the root canal I ate some pineapple (canned is fine).

Within five minutes the pain started subsiding and I could feel the pressure easing up considerably! I felt so good the next morning I thought about cancelling the root canal

, but decided I better do it. I needed no more pain meds even after the root canal and was back at work the following night - no small feat since I am an air traffic controller.

I looked this up on the internet. It turns out pineapple contains bromelain, a natural anti-inflammatory. For future reference, sources I found on the internet suggest eating pineapple for three days prior to having any dental work done.

I am trying to catch up between chicks hatching! Eight out and five more to go!

Thank you Sonew123 for the GFM!

I received the t-shirt from Graceful Bantams a few days ago. Thank you very much - it is adorable!

Now if I can just refrain from giving it to my DD before Christmas!

Thanks. I would try it if I liked pineapple. But I can't stand it. My hubby told me I look like I have chipmunk cheeks from the swelling. I can only take half of a perk every 2 hours instead of 1 perk every 4 hours. They get me very dizzy and upset my stomach even with food.

or is it Munky? Monkey... hee hee...

My root canal phase 1 went excellently. I hate, and I mean HATE going to the dentist. But, Dr. Wells is an excellent Endodontist! The best dental visit I've had in my 41 years. I already feel better 24 hours later than I have in about three months.

When I was 14 yrs old all 4 of my wisdom teeth where trying to grow in but they where growing towards my molars inside my gums. My gums where infected from one side to the other and top and bottom. I couldn't even open my mouth. Talk about a horrible pain. I was put on pain pills and antibiotics and had to rinse my gums with a mixture of peroxide and water then mouth wash then water. I still remember the pain. It was a releif when they where cut out. Of course I was asleep for it but when I woke up it was like I had no more pain. My gums where sore at the back of my mouth where the holes where but it was nothing compared to when they where infected and the teeth where pushing up against my molars.

The dentist said that I may have problems with the molars in later years from the wisdom teeth. I only have 1 tooth that was affected and it's falling apart. I've had a few absesses in the gum. I haven't been to a dentist to have it taken out because it don't hurt. Even when it was abcessed it didn't hurt. The nerves are dead in it so i'm spared from the pain. One of these days i'll get it taken out if it don't finally just fall out. lol I have this thing about teeth. When my daughter was loosing her baby teeth and she would show me by wiggling it, it would turn my stomach.

Yeah I was told infections in mouth can be deadly. Thats why I had to get my wisdoms out. They kept getting infected. They told me I was lucky I didn't get Men..... Not sure what it is called but they said I could have died from it. I would be careful if I was you. I don't like dentist either. I got stuck sooooo many times yesterday with that needle. The bottom didn't really hurt but the top OMG there is no meat up there so it hurt like Heck. He had a heck of a time getting my bottoms out the tops came right out and the molar was the worst.

The abcesses aren't so bad. My gum will get poked out like a pimple and I open it up and wrinse my mouth out with peroxide and water and salt water and keep brushing my teeth and it goes a way and the hole heals up. I'm a huge sissy when it comes to a dentist. I'll deal with it till I get tired of dealing with it.
I know how infections in the mouth can be dangerous. My brother had heart surgery in Feb and he got an infection under his tongue in surgery. It swelled up so fast they had to put that tube back down his throat and they put him in a coma till it was nearly gone. The doc said if the tube won't go back down his throat they would have to do a treach and the infection would most likely go straight to his heart. Talk about doing some heavy duty praying. After we all said our prayers we all got on facebook and sent emails to everybody we know to ask for prayers. He pulled thru but still has to have another surgery. He's getting his teeth pulled first.
