You opened the incubator!

It may be your last one too, if you keep doing that!

Just teasing-congratulations!

But........... the humidity is too high like in the 80s, so he wouldn't dry up, I moved him to a brooder. THey weren't due until tomorrow. Are they really going to die?

Doubtful... I had a great hatch a few weeks ago. I even opened the incubator up to put a video camera in the incubator to film a hatch. All were fine! And I have a really cool video of a chick pipping, zipping, and hatching!

Congrats on your first chick! Isn't is exciting?! And, no. They will not all die. She was teasing you. BUT, if you have others pipped, they can dry out in the shell if you open it too much or even a little. It's best to leave them in til all hatched or only open when no other pips are started. But, I too have had an early chick and it needed removed before others hatched, not a big deal.

Hope you have a great hatch!

Hate that so many are still sick...sending get well wishes out to everyone.

NO-like I said, I was just teasing you!

I can't keep my incubator shut, no matter how hard I try!

Oh Jeeeeeeeeeshhh. You scared me. THis is my first hatching, ya know... I'm already watching the chick every 5 minutes to see if he's still breathing. I haven't felt like this since I brought my daughter home from the hospital nearly 19 years ago. I used to hear every breath she took!!!

No other have pipped, so I guess I'm fine with opening it. (Not due until tomorrow)

Ya'll shouldn't tease me in my delicate state of hatching.

Beth: I'm jealous! You know Araucanas were my first eggs--darn incubator cooked them. Happy for you!

I'm sorry---it is kind of a joke because so many people are fanatical about NOT opening the incubator, and I don't worry about it too much. I usually have decent hatches, too.

4/7 but I for sure killed one on accident, the other two were probably my fault as well but I can't be certain. I'm a newbie at incubating. The other three seem fine, we'll see with time. I've sent the picture to all my pals. They already know I am chicken-crazy, and they helped start this, too!

Beth - you should warn everyone that you send monster Easter Eggers.

OMGosh These birds are huge! I had planned on leaving them in a 4'x4' box for a couple months. Today I added another box 3x4 so they could have more room. They are larger than the OEGB at 5 weeks, the legs on these birds are massive.

you don't suppose me feeding them 27% game bird starter has anything to do with that do you? heehee That is the recommended feed for Buckeyes and I see no reason to buy 2 kinds of chickie feed. I'll try to get some pics of them tomorrow. You'll be a proud G'ma!

quick question too.... when you breed sizzles can you also get Silkies? I think two of the sizz may be fluffy silkies, the feathers are not curling like the others. What beautiful birds they are tho, I sit and admire them often.
