The only chick that I hatched from your eggs, Michelle, looks exactly like Deuce.

Olivia has claimed him as her own. He was black with a white spot on the top of his head, and is now getting his barred feathers.

My broody showgirl's eggs went bad. I knew one was most likely infertile, but no idea why the 'adopted' egg didn't hatch. Anyway, as a desperate measure today I stuck a 3 week old chick under her. It is her chick I incubated. She took right to it

She has had it since mid-morning and all is well. The chick seems delighted also, hardly any peeping.

I can't believe this is going to work! If she was going to reject it would it be right away?

How is your chick doing? Did you get the vitamin E?

I did get her some vitamin E, her feet aren't curled up anymore, but they're stiff. She doesn't seem to like folding her legs either. I couldn't get her to open her beak so I laced her food. She is still eating and drinking very well and no other chicks are showing symptoms, so I am still hopeful.

Just candled the IB3s (third batch from you): 2/9 were infertile, the rest look good, including the possible NN. Should hatch 12/9.
The IB2s 3/9 were infertile and 1/9 quit, the last five include the possible NN and look good. Should hatch 11/29.

I've cut way back on candling, I think that's what did me in on the first batch, thinking I knew what I was seeing, and being wrong.

I've got French Copper Marans & Cuckoo Marans incubating too, due 12/3, from Shellyga. They are so very hard to candle because most of them are so dark, I hope nothing blows up in there!

First Chick is going strong with the buddy I bought for it. They're eating like pigs, er, I mean, chicks!

Hatch update lockdown 11/22/ - 11/26

Shellyga - 3 of 6 silikes hatched, other 2 are clear. 4 made it to lockdown.

Hot2pot - 3 of 14 plymouth barred rocks hatch. 4 too porous to incubate imo, the rest are clear. 5 made it to lockdown.

I will give the eggs still left in the bator another day, though i don't see or hear anything from them.

Thanks for the little chickies
