All I want for Christmas is my hens to lay.... sung to two front teeth.

Love it! Mind if I join the choir? I mean, really, how many months of vacation do these hens really need? Frustrated in Minnesota!

My BOs just started laying again after Lauin off for milton then just deciding it wasn't worth starting again for some reason I'm finally slowly getting eggs again.

Yes and NO...My birds get moved around depending on the seasons. Right now the breeding pen side go4es as follows
BLRW's-outside to the Summer Coop starting April 1st-Dec1st-then inside for winter
SPlit lav silkies-inside all year with a playpen out side in grass on weekends-supervised
White ameraucanas in 3rd pen-they are only 7 weeks old now so they are in all Winter
4th big pen-Silver Laced Brahmas that are now combined with my BLR brahmas and BLRW hen-and maran hens-for the Winter

Once Spring comes all those pens get emptied out into their Summer coops:) I sterilize those indoor pens as much as I can and then use them for growout pens all Spring Summer and Fall:)

I have another photo somewhere that shows it a tad better https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/25181_cimg5726.jpg

Breeding pens on one side-then the other half fenced off for my egg layers and supervised freerangers
We're hoping that by next Winter the side opposite of breeding pens we can have 4 more pens just like Henthymes:) Thats our plan that way I can empty out ALL other coops and consolodate all birds into barn for Winter!! MUCH EASIER if we can get the right air flow and circulation going...

wow! I've wondered what you-all do with the eggs you hatch.... your barns are absolultely gorgeous! I need a 'greenwithenvy' smilie inserted here!

Thanks for posting the photos.

Joins the green with envy crowd. I need a barn!!!

With everyone reporting that their birds aren't laying I figured mine were part of the strike as well. Turns out I was wrong. They've been hiding their eggs in the tall grass. They can get out of their padock but can't be bothered to get back in to lay.

I will join the "lazy hens" club. From 13 hens I am getting 2-3 eggs a day. But the good news... I think my Russian Orloffs are starting to lay! They are about 4 weeks later than normal, but I've been getting one very light brown egg every other day.

Let the Orloff breeding begin!
