I seperate the extra males and keep them in another cage. I try to sell them for about 3 months and if they don't sell or the ones that don't sell get processed. I always keep a couple though just in case I loose a male. I also pickle the extra eggs I have if I don't swap/sell or incubate them myself. I never process females of any kind of bird. My feeling on females is they provide me with eggs. So far I haven't had extra females to sell. I usually get a lot of males way more than females.

I just set a bunch of my own eggs and so far I have 16 out and still 2 dozen eggs in the bator hatching as we speak.

Where or what set up do you keep them in?

I either sell or hatch the eggs in the warmer months and in winter I save them up for my nephew. He loves to just sit around and eat them. Of course he boils them first. This past summer I sold so many chicks I wasn't able to have but 1 meal out of them. And those where the extra males.

Last year i made little deviled eggs for the family Christmas dinner. They're great in potato salad.

We made cages out of the 1/2" mesh wire. That way snakes can't get in and eat them. You don't want that to happen. If you don't like snakes it's not fun to get the surviving birds out to get the snake out. It can get in but not out because it has quail in it's belly and it's too fat to go back thru the wire. So it's trapped till it's meal digests.

Buck O Babies: IBs have a little brown on the wings. I can tell who they are by their leg color.

Love it! They're soo Cuuute! I had to show my DH the pics so he'd know I'm not the only one with babies running amuck, and rooms with more uses than they're original purpose. He laughed.
